Junior Achievement Entrepreneurial Program 2017 Pitch Fest Competition22
For the fourth year running, TurningPoint’s Founder and CEO, Ken Schmitt, volunteered as a Mentor and Sponsor for the Junior Achievement (JA) Entrepreneurial Program. The JA Company Program begins in the classroom as students create a product or service under the guidance of a JA mentor. The program allows students to start and manage their own business from the ground-up. The next stop for the teen teams is Pitch Fest where students have the opportunity to pitch their business to local venture capitalists. Winners have a chance to take home capital funding to support their company. We are very proud to announce that 3 of the 4 teams from Canyon Crest Academy (CCA) that pitched, received funding. One of our mentored teams, CoffiShake, won 1st Place and a $500 investment!!
Twenty-three teams from CCA, Grossmont High, SD High, San Dieguito Academy, Westview High, and Classical Academy each made a 6-min presentation in front of a panel of 6 judges. The judges then had 3 min for Q&A, and at the end, 17 teams were awarded $200, $300 or $500 each, to use toward the building of their product and company.
Congratulations Canyon Crest Academy!
